Yep, I ment the speaker icon. The weird thing is that there's no midi at the playpack list at all but maybe it's just depends on soundcard what are listed. Midi-interface (on control panel/multimedia) is enabled though. I've got a new soundcard Gamesurround Fortissimo II, new drivers installed and all the setups seems to be alright (I've actually tested every possible choice about million times :).
Fortissimo II ext. port is probably the MIDI-out you mentioned, there are only 2 ports in the list and both enabled.
I've got a GM keyboard so it should be able to send and receive MIDI messages and a new midi cable so it cannot be broken. I use Windows 98 SE so should be just fine also. I've tried Reason, Orion, Fruityloops & some software synths but MIDI just doesn't seem to work. I actually don't use these real sequencer progs. (Cubase, Logic Audio, Cakewalk etc.) but for example Reason has really clear manual how to connect MIDI keyboard.

I'm pretty much out of ideas but thanks for your help. this is just so embarrasing because I've read lot's of stuff about MIDI but just never got it working. Maybe I just should buy a new keyboard or something but most likely current keyb. isn't broken anyway and I don't wanna waste my money.
Maybe I'll mail you some day but I shouldn't bother you more at this time :).
