I know just how your feeling, I have a SoundBlaster! Extigy card (which is basically an external audigy 1, not 2). It CLAIMED to have instant MIDI with no latency, however i find this statement to be false.

The extigy goes through my USB 2 port, and the latency is around 50-70, so I bought a dedicated USB MIDI interface designed for XP. This has had no effect whatsoever and my latency is still kust as high. Anyone with any suggestions welcome, though i dont really want to mess around with my BIOS and MSCONFIG, and i've already turned off non-essential tasks in the startup menu. I'm running a Time Laptop 2600+ 333mhz FSB with 512mb DDRam on win XP home..
