i have technics sx p30, and 10.2.8 as well, no soundcard.
i bought edirol UM 1X midi usb interface (by the way edirol is roland brand)
you connect it to your usb and to your pianos midi out and you play.
the problem now is: software to play it through!
the only one who recognized it, was REASON
i found one small freeware utility, which has some core audio banks - find it in google - it's called simplesynth
or wait for apple's garageband! i'm gonna get one.
so - cheapest solution is edirol usb midi interface and that's it, you can even get audio usb interface, but ther you loose quality, since it coverts digi into analog and back to digi (something like griffin iMic)
i have lot's of questions too! by the way! :-)
