: : Can anyone help me record using my module in Cubase?
: : I have midi keyboard (with midi out only) and have connected this to midi in on my roland JV1080. So far so good, I can plug in my headphones play away.
: : However,I want to connect this to my sound card (SBlive 5.1, windows XP) so I can record using Cubase VST5. I have connected joystick port adapter to midi out on module but I cant hear anything playing or recording in Cubase.
: : I have midi input and output set to SBlive MIDI UART, is this a problem? Do I need audio outputs from module to souncard to be able to use the sounds?
: : Cubase also seems to be reading a signal in and out but I cant hear anything or record.
: : Please help, I'm going insane trying to make this work, I just wanna make music- is that too much to ask?!!! :)

: First, try switching the midi in and out cables.
: It's a 50/50 chance that you have them reversed.

: I also have had problems with recording midi with Xp, but if you see active midi info on the midi led on the cubase control bar then you must be recording and playing midi info.

: You may also check the bios settings for your computer.
: Many new computers bois is set up with the midi function set to off.
: Here is the proper connections.
: Midi keyboard out to midi in on your sound card.
: Midi out from your soundcard to the midi in of your synth module.
: Don't forget to set the midi out on your track settings to the sound card out.
: You can set this as defoult by changing your settings in the MME settings from Cubase.

: Good Luck

______

Think the problem is that you need to connect the audio out of module to the input of the soundcard
Midi does not handle audio signals; just note data and other digital crap.
