Rotary controls on Midiman Oxygen8

I recently got a midiman oxygen8. Everything is hooked up and basically working. The problem I am having is figuring out the programing of the rotary controls. I know how to program them, but I am only getting a few effects to work. I am running it through cakewalk, acid pro, and soundforge. Am I not using the right programs to utilize the functions of the control knobs. I am pretty new at external midi stuff.
