sblive-winXP: no midi ports available?

hi, i have this problem for 2 years now.
winXP, sblive!+expansion board with midi/ Spdif interface. 100X clean install, newest driver updates. everything fine BUT:
the midi in and out ports are just not recognized by winXP as if thgey simply don't exist. so theres no way to get any midi communication running
what can i do???
am i the only one with this problem (wich does'nt occur under win98)
