I don't have that exact problem, but using my Yamaha UW500 (which comes with sod all for win XP) I used to be able to use the softsynth but not the ASIO drivers, but now that I've fixed the ASIO drivers I can only use softsynth on the internal sound card (of my laptop so its awful). I've tried uninstalling ALL of the yamaha drivers and starting again and it still doesn't work.
I can still use the hardware's midi outs, but they require external MIDI devices. Any ideas?
