Hey everyone-

I am kinda having the same problem...only the stupid "MS media mapper" would show up in the Midi in/out selecter area. I don't even have a midi device connected. I couldn't even get sound through the cakewalk tutorial.

But I fixed the problem. Still not sure if I can input yet, but at least I can get sound!

In cakewalk (2004), go to

Options/audio
Advanced tab
in the "playback/recording" section, select "MME 32-bit" from the driver mode dropdown, if it is not already selected.

This worked on my brand new Dell Dimension with Soundmax soundcard and cakewalk 2004 academic edition.

hope this helps.

: : : : : : What do you use for MIDI input? A keyboard? How is it connected to the computer?

: : : : : : : I am new to computer music and Midi and would appreciate help with the following.
: : : : : : : Computer settings are as follows,
: : : : : : : Sound playback=Via Audio Wave- only.
: : : : : : : Sound recording=Via Audio Wave- only.
: : : : : : : Midi music playback=Microsoft GS Wavetable synth-only.
: : : : : : : Cakewalk midi devices-output box is showing=Midi Mapper-only.
: : : : : : : The problem I am having is that there is nothing displayed in the Input box!!!
: : : : : : : I don't know whether I have a s**t soundcard, but I am on a budget any any help would be gratefully recieved!

: : : : : Hi Les,
: : : : : Yeh, in answer to your question I am using a Keyboard hitched up to the P.C via the Joystick port.
: : : : : Thanks for your interest thus far :)

: : Same Problem here.....I'd be interested in whoever gets this one figured out.....

: Hi,

: I'm having the same problem here but I think I know what causes it. Via Audio Wave is not a real soundcard but a built-in chip sort of thing with limited possibilities.
: Buying a decent soundcard (like Soundblaster live)might solve the problem.
: I'll let you know if it does as soon as I have the cash ...
