kurzweil sp88x midi connection problem

hi.
for a long time i used roland E15 and its midi features but when i plug the same midi cables (and of course the same midi setup on the computer)to kurzweil sp88x stage piano it nearly does not respond. some noises (different instrument sounds mixes) are the only what i've get..
if someone (that achieved to plug sp88x) can help me, i will be very pleasant because it is really annoying me.
