Filter capacitors may be failing (hummm) - the wall wart puts out 12V AC and it will be rectumfried and filtered in the keyboard. Capacitors tend to go first.

If you don't mind attacking things with a soldering iron, you might look for electrolytic capacitors around where the power cord attaches - if any of them look like they've leaked or split, replace them.

Are you trying to use the old serial cable with XP? Mine works fine (with different software) with MIDI cables.
