I seem to have exactly the same problem. When I attach my Roland E-28 to MIDI in of my sound card, MIDI starts to sound really bad.
BUT: When I detach the keyboard, it sounds fine!!!
Using MIDIMON, I see that the keyboard generates a lot of 'Timing' messages. Maybe that causes a problem?
Who knows a cure for this.
