I'm not familiar with your keyboard, I have an Alesis QS7, but generally, you need to determine what bank # to assign in the sequencer, & perhaps even turn General Midi OFF on the Yamaha.

IE;
The QS-7 banks are setup as follows:\
Bank 0-User
Bank 1-Preset 01
Bank 2-Preset 02
Bank 3-Preset 03
Bank 4-General Midi

If you set up your sequencing software with the
Bank #,
Program Change,
Volume,
Pan
as the first pieces of information during at least a 4 beat countdown prior to any performance data, you should be fine.
Additionally, what I do is every single song I do, I have a separate "Mix" setup on the QS-7. I save all the patch data there as well, & I standardize it to be uniform from song to song.
For example, Track/Midi Channel 10 is always drums, #9 is a bass, #11 is a click track, etc.

Hope that helps.
