The same thing happened to me after owning the unit less than a year. Total freeze up with either a capital "E" in the LED display or a "0". The unit first starts to cycle in random drum sounds as you're playing and suddenly freezes and makes no sound at all.
Disappointing.

: Just bought the dd-55 last night, I have had other midi instruments freeze in the same way in an "infinite loop". I'll let you know what I get with my setup.
