Reason being triggered by Quadrasynth

Hi,
Hope someone can help with this. I am triggering reason out of mix mode with the Quadrasynth + for live shows. I am using the NN-XT sampler in reason. Since you can't split the the NN-XT sampler to use more than one patch I have a couple of the samplers going into different midi channels. I was hoping with mix edit mode in the Quadra I could set ranges and turn on and off the midi channels but it doesn't have any effect like it does with the internal quadrasynth sounds. The sounds just stay layered. Does anyone know how to make this work with the Quadrasynth or internally in Reason to split the keyboard with different patches? Any help appreciated.
