Please help a moron!!

hi,

I'm quite new to PC music-making. I have Logic 5.1, and have set up the audio etc. However I have a MIDI keyboard and I can't seem to set it up to play. I've put the MIDI in lead to the out of the keyboard and connected it to the 15 pin joystick / MIDI port.

I was informed that this should make Logic 'see' the keyboard as there would be MIDI signals from both. The lead is brand new and the keyboard def. works, any ideas on what I need to do would be much appreciated.

I have an NVIDIA N-force motherboard card. In the drivers page I can see the NVIDIA Codec iterface and the MPC audio processing interface, but nothing to do with MIDI. Is this my problem or do I need to do something else. Would really appreciate help on this, it's doing my head in!
