cakewalk track properties

I have recorded midi files with cakewalk before, but then I got a soundblaster sound card and can't seem to figure anything out. I am using a yamaha psr-550 and the keyboard out template which assigns the following channels. 1 l 2 r etc. (sorry if this is not making sense, I am trying to talk about this the best I can). Everything seems to be set up right on the keyboard (cables, program, and such), I just can't figure out what to do in the track properties pain. I set up the soundblaster midi port as the port, but then I am lost. I just want to program drum beats. Do I use midi omni for the source, or a channel number? What goes in the channel box. Do I need to set my channels to yamaha xg or something through cakewalk. I am just completely lost and don't know where I am going wrong. Cakewalk support no longer offers tech support for my software. Thanks to anyone who helps!!!
