: I seemed to have the same (or analogous) problem with AC97/Windows XP home and Cakewalk Music Creator. Fortunately there was a new driver v A3.41 at http://www.avance.com/ and now the output works with midi (when I select the "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth" as output device, which was not present before the update). Hope this helps....

: : : I just can't make my casio keyboard work with my onboard sound card AC97.

: : : The Keyboard is plugged into the Gameport of the sound card. Win2000 can see the game port.
: : : Connected the cables the correct way In-Out, Out-In on the keyboard and the other end into the PC game port.

: : : I can hear MIDI sound/music on my PC but cannot send to the Keyboard or receive any sound from the Keyboard.

: : : Its driving me nuts... please help.

: : : here's what I have:
: : : Casio CTK-731
: : : Epox 8KHAL - motherboard
: : : Onboard sound, AC-97
: : : MIDI cable adaptor.
: : : Cakewalk Music Creator 2002
: : : win2000 Pro

: : : Is there some drivers/software I'm missing???
: : : Any info, Advice... will be greatly appreciated.

: : : Thanks.

: : I talked to the pctech at Avance Logic and was told there is no midi Input on the AC-97 bummer!!! when I bought my MSI motherboard it didn`t even cross my mind till now to check. All Avance would say was to update Direct X .No reason Why.Direct x 9 didn`t do any magic it just made a problem for cakewalk as cakewalk does not read Direct x 9 it reads to direct x 8.1b only! you need to get a direct x utility from cakewalk to install it when using direct X 9 as far as AC-97 goes I guess I need a new sound card.
