: : I have been downloading midi files off the net. When I play them they sound really cheesy (like they are being played on a Radio Shack keyboard). My sound card is a bottom-of-the-line Sound Blaster. If I were to get a good sound card would the instrument voices be better? That is my assumption, but I wanted to check it out before I go out and spend the money. Thanks!

: Yes, it would sound better. It all depends on the quality of the soundsamples of your soundcard. If you are going to buy an new soundcard, ask for a demonstration. But if you really want to have CD quality, buy an external Roland, Yamaha, ... module and connect it with your computer via the game port.

Alain, can I but in here? Could you be a little more specific on these external module? Like price, models etc. Maybe I won't have to replace my Maestro card as it's just the midi out that is failing. Thanks
