I'm not familiar with Cubase but I do know that it facilitates use of midi continuous controllers. The MPX responds to prog. change and controller messages only so certain parameters may be changed in real time.
I would suggest reading the help file on coninuous controllers and be sure that the receive channel is set properly on the MPX.
