latency cubase SX

Hi there! When I record midi, it sounds fine, but when I play it back, I have a few seconds delay. When I record audio, there's no problem. I have an M audio delta soundcard and cubase SX and win XP. The control panel says that my buffer is lower than 12 ms, so I don't get it, please help!
