Just curious : why XP? I have XP on one of my computers (not by choice, it was preinstalled). I have yet to find one good reason to keep it. I do a lot of things on my computers, music, web design, image editing, database management, etc. Win98 seems to be better for everything. I have the feeling, that XP is nothing but another way for Microsoft to take money from the unsuspecting public. They will keep releasing expensive "upgrades" every other year, even if they have nothing useful to offer. If you use Win98, don't "upgrade" to XP, wait till something better comes along.

: I just upgraded from Win98SE to WinXP. Midi sound is now terrible. It is playing correctly, but not as appealing as before.

: Settings->Audio->Midi Music Playback shows a Default device: Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth. Output device is Conexant Audio

: Is this a configuration problem or do I need a different device or driver or what?

: Please help.

: XP on Pavilion 9688C.
