I would like to take a moment to comment on this question. It is popping up very often as
people make the conversion. First XP is a bad platform for audio and midi. Sorry but this is
just the truth. You can thank Microsoft for screwing the musicians of the world. I recommend that
you stick with 98. That being said- XP reassigns your midi playback to to an internal midi table. This midi table sucks.
You should reassign your midi files to another midi table. If you don't have another hardware based table- try the Roland VSC MP1
software. This provides a software pallette with a large selection of good sounds.
