Wierd Cubase delay on stop

I think this may be an old problem, but when stop is pressed on Cubase 5r6 there is a wierd double delay before the actually sound stops. This also seems to crash Cubase, especially if Kontact is being used. Sometimes the problem is worse than others with no apparent reason. Any known fixes?
