'To Host' to Pc connection- cant get it working

Hi, i have tried everything in the manual on how to connect my Pc to my PSR740 using he 'To Host' connection cable. I installed the drivers, selected that as my main midi driver, set the PSR midi switch to the 'PC2' position .. all kinds of combinations .. but i cant hear anything from the PSR or the PC . . what else can i try . . . anything with the MIdi template, receive and transmit settings, local control etc ? ... please help if you know ,, this has taken me days
