: Dear Mr Oldford,
Midi is not the same as audio. When you send a midi signal into your computer it only contains the information on the notes you are playing without sound. When your PC plays back the midi it needs to draw sounds from somewhere. This can be from
a sound library (like the roland VSC), an internal sound card that has a midi bank on it or you can set it to trigger the QS4 causing it to play.
If you would like to record the sounds on the QS4 playing the notes then you need to record the audio outs from the QS4 into an audio input of the computer.

regards
Earl

: I have an old QS4 and want to record some midi into cakewalk on my PC. Do I need a serial driver or something? I have the proper cord hooked into my soundcard but I don't know why I can't get any sound when I hit record. In cakewalk the input is set to my MPU-401 device - i think that's right (?)
