RD700 Layering

I have a RD600 and recently I bought a RD700. When I layer two sounds in the RD600 I press the sustain pedal and then turn off the lower layer on the select tone buttons the sound still sounding with the pedal pressed. On the RD700 when i press the UPPER2 button to turn off the layer with the sustain pedal pressed the sound is cut. Can I change that on the RD700?
