That's something a lot of people are interested in doing. It's insanely difficult, and at present virtually impossible with any but the simplest monophonic wave files, but plenty of minds are working on the problem of how to improve the results. I guess I should just stress the basic point: MIDI sequencing has in general nothing at all to do with mp3, because MIDI is a set of instructions for synths, not in any way an audio format.
