Midi on Cubase

As i have no midi keyboard, ive been using Cubase's matrix editor to get my midi instroment sounds but all i can get is a piano! i have a fairly ok sound card (Creative SB Live Player 5.1) it have different midi sounds but i dont know how to access them in cubase. any help would be great.
