Gameport Midi cable setup!

Hi everyone. I've just bought a gameport midi cable and want to setup my PC to recognise the midi signal in Cubase VST. I'm using a roland SC-88 from Com 1. No problems playing files but just getting midi in to work in Cubase. There is no option in the midi setup under options to choose the gameport as the midi input. I've also tryed changing settings in Control Panel, Audio, Recording to Gameport. Nothing is working. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong!

I'd appreciate any help.
