Soundfont polyphony noise

hi everybody, hi Jeremy... i have a problem. in some soundfonts while playing in vienna or any other software, when i play many notes simultaneously (chords or so), i hear a very loud noise, like if the card is short of polyphony. plz help.
my config is FIC mobbo with a via chipset, athlon 900, 256 SDRAM, 40GB western digital hdd (portege) + 45GB western digital (caviar) + Gigabyte geforce 2mx-400, SB Audigy DE, Motorola 56k modem.
