Recording on computer... Corrupted MIDI data?

I have a Yamaha PSR-620 connected via gameport interface to a Turtle Beach Systems Montego DELL OEM sound card in my computer. I can play MIDI data from the computer to the keyboard (MPU-401 interface), but when I try recording the data is corrupted. No IRQ conflicts that I can see. When using MIDI-OX to check, I find that the system says it is recieving Unknown Events, Pitch Blend, and Instrument selections under varying circumstances when I press the keys on the keyboard. I've reinstalled the drivers several times too... anyone have any ideas?
