Help needed using my PSR-740 with external sequencer

Have currently connected my PSR-740 to an ALESIS MMT8 sequencer but cannot get the required response using the Yamaha as a tone generator. Can anybody tell me what settings should be shown on the midi template / midi transmit / midi receive pages on the Yamaha.
