I don't know Home Studio, but one thing to check is what output device each track is set to. In my version of Cakewalk you right click on the track name in the main window and choose Track Properties: Port should be set to SoundFont Device, or Live! Synth A or something like that.

The soundfonts you're using can either be loaded into Bank 0 from AudioHQ / Soundfont, or attached to a project within Cakewalk.

Also, before you go any further, see if there's a MIDI Devices command on the Tools menu. If so it should give you the chance to select MIDI devices - highlight the two soundfont capable synths (A and B) and move them to the top to make them the default output devices.

To use soundfonts that are loaded in Bank 1 or higher, make sure that in Track Properties the bank select method is set to Controller 0*, not to Normal.
