Of course you can. The best piece of software I have found is COOL EDIT by Syntrillium Software...(visit their website to find out more). You actually prepare your MIDI then play it "live" while recording with COOL EDIT (it's all done on your computer...i.e. you don't have to have speakers and a microphone...your making a "digital" recording not an "analog" one). When you save the recorded file, you can save it in many formats, the 2 most popular being .wav OR .mp3
I then burn CD's of my music using the wave files I create. Since the CD's are regular audio CD's, I can listen to them on any music CD player.
