You can set up the Channel Map in Cakewalk, so track No.1 will be channel No.1, track No.2 will be channel 2. and so on.
Make sure you select the proper track in track wiev when recording.

: I have a Roland JX-305 and Cakewalk 8. I have sequences on my JX-305 that I want to record into Cakewalk and then arrange them into a song and add knob tweaks afterwards. I would like to put each sequence into a different track in Cakewalk and then arrange and cut up the sequences to make a song. For example, have a bass intro, then the drums come in with a break, then the melody comes in, then a modified drum loop with a break in the bassline etc.
: I can record all the parts into a single track but that doesn't allow me to get to each part. I can record Part 1 from the synth into track 1 in Cakewalk but when I go to record part 2 into track 2, the data from part 1 gets into track 2.
: Does a process like this involve a lot of changing of parameters in Cakewalk and my synth in between recording and playing the parts, I would think that I should be able to set it up once and record part 1 into track 1 while the other parts are muted and so on for all 8 parts.
