new here! hope someone has an answer to this. i've done a lot of connecting various MIDI instruments to a computer for MIDI sequencing etc. but i'm on to live performace now with my band and want to do something i've never tried so don't know where to start.
I have a Korg Triton EX88 and an Alesis 6.1. I have a dual rack stand so i can put the Alesis up above the Korg. I play a lot of Hammond B3 organ type sounds on a lot of the music we play and I'd like to set up the top synth (the alesis) as an "upper register" of the organ sound the Korg is playing. Is that possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I figure the wealth of knowledge here is going to be faster than trial and error... Thanks in advance.

the korg must be in combination mode (8 programs in 1 patch)
use one program to be played by the korg keyboard itself.
select another program (the hammond patch) but assign it another midi channel so that it wont be trigerred by the korg keyboard.
set the alessis to transmit midi on the channel you have chosen for the hammond patch. make sure to lower the level of the alessis keyboard so that you can check if you can listen to see if you have done this properly. also you may layer an additional patch on the alessis for a thicker sound.
consult the user manuals for more information on how to do this. |
